Trusted Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Westlake Hospital
Recently the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an independent healthcare quality organization and the world-leading administrator of Center of Excellence programs for surgery specialties, designated Westlake Hospital as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG).
SRC was selected by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) to administer the COEMIG program. The AAGL is an international authority with over four decades of experience improving the lives of women everywhere. Westlake Hospital joins a handful of hospitals around the world to receive the prestigious designation. This designation elevates the Westlake team to the forefront of safe, high-quality gyn surgery.
Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery is any surgical technique that uses small incisions and results in rapid recovery, decreased blood loss, shorter length of stay in the hospital and less post-operative pain, resulting in a quick recovery. At Westlake, our gynecologic surgeons perform a variety of minimally invasive procedures for chronic pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, infertility, uterine prolapse, urinary stress incontinence and infertility.
The Westlake Gynecologic Surgery Program provides a patient-centered, integrated team approach to gynecologic surgical care using evidence-based medicine, progressive technology and innovative treatment options. Together, this multidisciplinary team of physicians provides cohesive streamlined access to a full array of advanced minimally invasive gynecologic surgical care tailored to the individual.
The COEMIG designation recognizes surgeons and facilities that demonstrate an unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care. The program is structured to help minimally invasive gynecologic surgery providers continuously improve care and quality for patient safety.
The goal of the COEMIG program is to help accelerate the adoption of minimally invasive gynecology and ensure that women are aware of their surgical treatment options and the benefits of less invasive approaches.
This Excellence program recognizes that integrated efforts and resources of both the surgeon and hospital are what provide lasting health benefits for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery patients.
To earn the COEMIG designation, surgeons and hospitals must partner together and demonstrate a cross-organizational commitment to minimally invasive gynecologic surgical care. Hoag provided information on all aspects of its minimally invasive gynecology program and processes, including data on its surgical outcomes. The application, site inspection and evaluation process is rigorous to ensure that the safest, highest quality of care is delivered to minimally invasive gynecologic surgery patients.
